Halloween Goth Surprise Drop Today: Kommunity FK Archival Release of “Tribulations” Single from Iconic Album The Vision and the Voice from IPR

HALLOWEEN SURPRISE: GOTH PUNK LEGENDS KOMMUNITY FK SINGLE “TRIBULATIONS” OUT TODAY IN ADVANCE OF EXPANDED REISSUE OF DEBUT ALBUM THE VISION AND THE VOICE FROM INDEPENDENT PROJECT RECORDS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA. (WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 21, 2026) – Independent Project Records (IPR) announced today a spooktacular Halloween surprise as Los Angeles goth punk legends Kommunity FK released the single “Tribulations” on all DSPs. This is in advance of an expanded reissue of the band’s much sought-after and highly influential debut album The Vision and The Voice (originally released by IPR in 1983) coming in 2027. Fans can listen to the track here.

Remastered now for the first time, “Tribulations” is guaranteed to get you in the Halloween mood. Listen closely to the song’s mighty crescendo and you might hear the sound of bat wings flapping away. Unearthly static, the rattling, ominous rumble of drums and bass: “Tribulations” is terrifyingly good from the very first seconds. And it only gets better from there, as shattering guitars join in, soon followed by one of the most commanding and magnetic frontmen the ‘punk gothique’ has ever known: Patrik Mata. So much so, in fact, that none other than Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy Corgan personally requested a sit down with Patrik earlier this year on his The Magnificent Others podcast, which can be seen here.

Kommunity FK, the band Mata formed in 1978, was a singular presence in the Los Angeles underground, post-punks with a vision both edgy and romantic who ended up paving the way for the deathrock scene of the ’80s. Fittingly untouched by the dawn, the dark, storming power of the band’s music is as eerie and enchanting now as it was in 1983, when their debut LP The Vision and The Voice was released by Independent Project Records.

Details of the expanded version of The Vision and The Voice will be announced shortly.
