SF’S MERCURIAL THE AMERICAN PROFESSIONALS UNLEASH NEW ALBUM IN JANUARY!
SAN FRANCISCO’S HOOK DRIVEN POWER TRIO THE AMERICAN PROFESSIONALS CONFIRM JANUARY 14, 2014 RELEASE DATE FOR WE MAKE IT OUR BUSINESS
Record Release Show & Tour Dates To-Be-Confirmed for Fans of Cleverly Crafted Songs with Beefy Hooks, Sing-a-Long Harmonies, a Passion for Gillian Welch (huh?) and More Jingles Than Santa’s Sled!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA (MONDAY OCTOBER 18, 2013)– The American Professionals (www.theamericanprofessionals.com), a San Francisco power trio whose cleverly crafted songs of hope, love, guilt and fear are matched only by their beefy power chords, hooks and harmonies have confirmed January 14, 2014 for the release of their new CD We Make It Our Business on the band run label Charlie in the Box Records. A record release show and tour dates will be announced shortly.
Founded in 2003 by Chuck Lindo (ex Actionslacks, Jumbo Shrimp, The Nukes) in San Francisco, The American Professionals (a.k.a. Ampros) have endured more line-ups than the inside of the S.F.P.D. booking room. Today, the band has evolved (scratch that, they have devolved) into a solid power trio whose foundation includes the aforementioned Lindo (guitar/vocals), Cheryl Hendrickson (bass/vocals) and Adam White (drums).
We Make it Our Business is the second full-length album (and one EP) from Ampros who combine classic pop songwriting, off-kilter lyrical themes, riff-heavy arena rock intros, tight harmonies and the occasional left turn that you just don’t see coming (ne the Gillian Welch cover “The Way It Goes”). Fans of Cheap Trick, The Knack, The Replacements and Lisa Marr’s Buck would do well to investigate. Tracks off the new record Include:
The Way It Goes
Keep Up With You
Just Now and Then
Happening to You
Ampros somewhat mercurial and Zelig-like existence is highlighted by a suspiciously vague band name, a yeoman-like affinity for well-crafted songs and a self-deprecating take on life and lyrics. What’s more, The Ampros proximity to Silicon Valley (and a voyeuristic allure with prescription drug commercials) brought about their ironic fascination with corporate branding. The imagery found in the band’s logo and the artwork in We Make It Our Business is an ironic take on corporate culture. Their album art, logos, webpages, social media and boardroom photos lend themselves to slick trade show pamphlets, innocuous website images of cheery corporations and their clients, not indie rock bands. It’s this monolithic, faceless corporation that brings beefy hooks to the masses instead of the latest, new-and-improved floor cleaner.
The American Professionals are a unique band – in that unlike most bands, they actually make a living playing and composing music. Since 2005 the band has been a go-to entity for the music-licensing world due to their deft musicianship. The Ampros are as at ease composing old-school Memphis soul, seventies AOR California folk-rock or even eighties Sunset Strip hair metal. Lindo and partner John Schulte founded a boutique music house company for music licensors to create new music at Jingle This! (www.jinglethis.com). In fact, the band have even composed Ampro genre-specific theme songs which are available as free downloads on their website which deftly shows their chops and sense of mirth. Be it licensing, advertising, composing or quickly turning around a last minute track, the band certainly lives up to their latest album title, We Make It Our Business.
In fact, The American Professionals make is their business to be the very best©.
