New Remix Single Out Today!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA (THURSDAY FEBRUARY 22nd, 2024) Today sees the release of the lead single from the forthcoming Metropole Remixes Vol.2 album – The Bart Thissen Remix.
Bart Thissen’s remix wraps the original in a cloak of delicately selected beats all delivered with a crisp, metallic sheen. It soundtracks perfectly that 4am sun-rising moment when the party is nearly over but the dancing is not quite done. Thissen’s Metropole is transformed with a luscious intensity into a shimmering dance track for the dawn. Sheer bliss.
Bart Thissen is from The Netherlands and has been experimenting with electronic music since the nineties, using both analog gear, self-built hardware and synths ‘in the box’. He has been releasing music since 2004
He says of the remix, “When playing around with the track’s stems by combining and re-ordering parts I got the inspiration for a groove and theme. I wanted to create something more beat oriented that also could be played for a dance floor. Chopped vocal samples from the stems give a mechanical but still ‘human’ feel and add tension.”
Bart Thissen’s remix is one of 19 remixes of Tobin’s Stone Giants Metropole single which are being released across two albums this month. Vol 1 is already available and Vol.2 will be released on 29th February.

The Metropole Remix Project started on the Nomark Discord channel. It was just an idea in amongst the chatter; to see if anyone was interested in remixing Metropole, one of the otherworldly love songs on Tobin’s Stone Giants West Coast Love Stories album.
The question “what would you make of this?” was answered with a burst of creativity from established artists, as well as first timers and inventive experimenters.
There was no expectation of release when the stems were made available. Those involved were creating for the pleasure of it, an actual case of Art for Art’s sake.
This release is an opportunity for Nomark to introduce a whole cohort of new talents and artists to those who eschew the algorithms and seek more interesting sounds.
