“It’s Getting Better” b/w “Hey Girl (I Wanna Be Your Man)” 7” Confirmed for
March 11, 2016 From Seattle Shoegazers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA (TUESDAY JANUARY 19, 2016) – Seattle-based indie shoegazers Dirty Sidewalks (http://www.dirtysidewalks.com) announced today they will be releasing both a debut 7” vinyl single and a full-length album in 2016. To be released on the band’s own No-Count Records, the debut 7” single — available in both white and black vinyl — is set for March 11thand will be followed by their first full-length album Bring Down The House Lights, currently scheduled for a Summer release.
The 7” vinyl A-side of “It’s Getting Better” has tenacious pop hooks and the B-side “Hey Girl (I Wanna Be Your Man)” is full of youthful Velvet Underground charm. Both songs give a stylistic preview of what’s to come with the band’s debut full-length. A new video for “Hey Girl (I Wanna Be Your Man)” will also be available coinciding with the 7″ single release and will be directed by Sidewalks front man Erik Foster.
Dirty Sidewalks were formed in 2010 by singer/guitarist Erik Foster, his brother and lead guitarist Evan Foster (also founder of Surf Garage rockers The Boss Martians), and longtime friend and bassist Evan O’Neil. The band plays anthemic tunes informed equally by ‘80’s college rock, ‘90’s Britpop and ‘60’s pop harmonies. Dirty Sidewalks take sonic cues from (among others) the fuzzy haze of The Jesus and Mary Chain, the massive guitar-wall of early Oasis and the neo-psychedelic jangle of The Dandy Warhols. Bolstered sonically by Evan Foster’s crisp, punchy production and by Erik Foster’s sharp songwriting and visual talents (see the band’s videos), Dirty Sidewalks have been receiving rave reviews from press outlets such as MAGNET Magazine, AXS, and Artist Direct.
In May 2015, Dirty Sidewalks released their debut single It’s Getting Better in digital format on Los Angeles-based label MuSick Recordings. In December 2015, the band offered a free download of their original holiday season bummer ballad “It’s Xmas (And Everyone Is Miserable)” via Soundcloud to much yuletide acclaim. Recently, they’ve been called everything from “vintage alt-rock/noise-pop” to “darkly jubilant”. Live, the band has supported a diverse range of acts including Har Mar Superstar, Moving Units, The Mono Men, and The Young Fresh Fellows.
