Devo’s Gerald V. Casale’s Scathing Protest Song & Video “Just Do It” Out Now as America 250 Begins

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA (TUESDAY JULY 7, 2026)  – Fresh off DEVO’s Coachella performances, NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, and the Grammy Award-nominated Netflix documentary, Gerald V. Casale unleashes “Just Do It!”—a scathing new protest song and music video targeting the Trump administration as America 250 begins. It is not an exercise in nostalgia, but a response to the present.

Rolling Stone featured “Just Do It!” exclusively ahead of its public release, calling it a work that “takes on the ultimate symbol of our decay: Donald Trump.”

The animated video casts Trump at the head of a MAGA zombie army while Jeffrey Epstein grins from the Teletubbies’ sun and Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Bill Clinton replace the beloved children’s characters.

WHY NOW?

As America 250 begins, the forces that gave birth to DEVO are back in power.

Casale’s worldview was forged on May 4, 1970, when he witnessed the Kent State shootings, where four students were killed by the Ohio National Guard. Two of the students killed were Casale’s friends. That event became the catalyst for DEVO’s formation and fueled a lifelong assault on authoritarianism, propaganda, and de-evolution.

More than half a century later, “Just Do It!” shows that America’s greatest threat comes from within.

Featuring longtime DEVO touring members Josh Hager and Jeff Friedl, along with Die alten Maschinen, “Just Do It!” is out now.

“Just Do It! celebrates 250 years of our defeat of Tyranny in an age of Tyranny reborn.”
