Midwest Comedy Star’s Views on Body Image, The Bay Area & Mouth Breathers Take Center Stage in Offbeat New Record

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA (MONDAY SEPTEMBER 14, 2015) – Stand Up! Records (www.standuprecords.com) announced today that the album Pig Woman from Comedian and Folk Humorist Mary Mack (http://www.marymackcomedy.com) is set for release on October 9, 2015.

Describing herself as having the “…voice of a 5 year old and the body of a fourth grader”, it is abundantly clear, that Mary Mack’s idiosyncratic world view, makes her one of the most unique voices in comedy today.

Pig Woman is Mack’s Stand Up! Records debut, but don’t let her Wisconsin honk-e-bonics fool you: her command of the stage reveals a sly wit and quick, nimble instincts. From alcoholistic medicine and DIY raccoon rescues to the romance of a rest-stop proposal, it’s pretty clear she is working on a totally different astral plane. She also introduces the finer points of backwoods living while skillfully navigating the twists and turns of wit while gleefully blazing a new trail without ever relinquishing her mastery over the room. Whether you, too, have learned life lessons at the State Fair or you just can’t wait to sign up for the “Herd of Pugs 1K,” we’re positive this is your new funny best friend.

It’s clear that Mary Mack is the real deal because a real comic is proud of her Northern Wisconsin roots…. or ruuts she calls them. She’s sick of doing shows in Los Angeles “…for people appreciating me for what’s on the inside,” Mack’s insightful humor comes from her ability to make fun of herself as much as others. She takes on her mom’s dog van, her improved mood thanks to her mom’s anti-depressants and how to escape the Midwest Polka Society. Her humor is a real breath of fresh air in today’s world of here today/gone tomorrow celebrity culture.

Over the past several years, Mary Mack has performed at the Vancouver Comedy Fest, HBO’s Andy Kaufman Awards and Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival. She made her national TV debut on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, was on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and was the original voice of Dylan on Fox’s cartoon Golan the Insatiable. She has even been on Aqua Teen Hunger Force on Cartoon Network’s late-night programming block Adult Swim. Mack and her mandolin sing-alongs have been featured on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show, XM, Sirius, and Minnesota’s Polka Spotlight. Again with the polka…but it works!

Stand Up! Records is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and run by Grammy-winning comedy producer Dan Schlissel. With a growing catalog and more than 150 releases, they have a 15 year history as a champion of the underdog.  More than just a record label it is a comedy brand juggernaut; combining comedy, great art, discovering new talent, founding comedy festivals and also producing cool stuff.
