(FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 2017) –  Producer/Writer/Performer Kennedy (www.kennedykarate.com?) announced today that his new video single his country- electro track “Bareback” co-starring Nashville singer A.J. Hobbs, is set for release today, Friday March 10, 2017 via all digital and streaming music services.

“Bareback” is a seemingly impossible mashup of techno and country, equal parts Walker: Texas Ranger meets Star Trek: The Next Generation. Robots, line dancing, cowgirls, pick-ups and automatic weapons play a part in this slick EDM-inspired extravaganza video. Lyrically, “Leave those boots on baby, you know the rules” clashes mightily with beat heavy dance tracks and Don Rich-worthy licks. “I put together the song and video for “Bareback”, while I was producing and writing the new Striking Matches album in Nashville because I really wanted to combine two totally different genres,” said producer/performer Kennedy. “Country and Techno go together like whiskey and Tinder. And I swear, I really was county before country was cool.”

So who is Kennedy? Kennedy is equal parts Dr. Dre, Klaus Nomi, and Robert Evans. He’s has had a chameleon-like career both in front of the mic as well as behind it. Kennedy has found success in multiple genres and incarnations. Be it his beginnings during indie days in his hometown of Los Angeles with an early incarnation of Silversun Pickups and his solo debut Kennedy, this led to foray’s writing, producing and developing other artists and following his muse.

Currently working in Nashville, Kennedy has just finished writing and producing the country duo Striking Matches (Capitol Records). Prior, he worked producing and writing the hit single from BØRNS (Interscope) “10,000 Emerald Pools” and producing/writing/performing in the London based collective Nightbus (S-Curve Records). Clearly his genre jumping attack is much like a hobo riding the rails, wherever he finds inspiration, he lays his hat. 

As a recording artist, Kennedy’s underground club anthem Karate was featured in the viral phenomenon “Dollar Shave Club”, The Namesake, and independently sold over 45K copies. His viral smash video “Mama “had over 1 million YouTube views in a week.  His songs are featured in Napoleon Dynamite, Get Him To The Greek, Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist, 90210 and Shameless.

Kennedy currently lives in a tree house in Mt. Washington, CA. He drives a 1974 Dodge Dart, eats macrobiotic, and has a license to carry a concealed automatic weapon. “Bareback” of course.
