FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA. & SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (WEDNESDAY MAY 2, 2017) – San Francisco’s The American Professionals announced today the release of their fourth album (third full length release) Sympathetic Overdrive on their own Charlie in the Box Music label, June 23rd.
The American Professionals confirmed a record release show in San Francisco on June 24 at Amnesia with Droneyard and The Campbell Apartment in support (835 Valencia St., between 19th & 20th) with a west coast tour to follow. Look for dates shortly!
While the hook laden guitar pop band from the Bay Area is perhaps best known for perfectly crafted pop tunes buoyed by beefy guitar licks and hummable melodies, Sympathetic Overdrive is a much more diverse record. The ten song, 35 minute album is a more personal and musical exploration of the husband and wife team of Chuck Lindo and Cheryl Hendrickson than in years prior. Sure, the chunky hooks are still there but this album features songs with layered melodies and harmonies, diverse instrumentation and more intimate lyrics that reflect their emotional narrative along with upbeat pop tunes.
Tracks listing for Sympathetic Overdrive include:
- In Case of Emergency, Break
- The Story
- Just Do Something
- Guide to the Perplexed
- Regret
- Higher Degree
- Civic Living
- Familiar Ghosts
- Falling Down
- WMPMS
Since the band’s debut in 2004, The American Professionals have gleaned attention from a variety of outlets including Nickelodeon/MTV Networks.
The two continue to stretch their musical and artistic boundries. Chuck has played with numerous San Francisco bands on projects including Jumbo Shrimp (w/ Dead Kennedys East Bay Ray & Klaus Flouride), noise-pop pioneers Actionslacks and collaborations with both Dryspell and The Mr. T. Experience. He also continues to write and compose for radio and television advertising and perform with bands Wizard Van, The Real Numbers and Tom Jonesing. Meanwhile, Cheryl composed and recorded her synth pop single, “Diamonds in the Rough,” with her Los Angeles singer/songwriter friends, Little Lonely (aka Julie Cain) and Arrica Rose (Arrica Rose and the …, Dear County). She also created the concept and directed the video for the “Diamonds” single out in mid-May.
