Runnings’ Next Solo Album, Piqued, is Set for Release on Independent Project Records in 2025

LOS ANGELES, CA (FRIDAY NOVEMBER 8, 2024) – Independent Project Records (IPR) and Jeffrey Runnings, the creative force behind legendary GrammyⓇ-nominated, dreampop pioneers For Against announced today that a campaign on the GoFundMe fundraising platform has been established to help offset his medical bills while he battles stage 4 cancer. As the heart and soul behind the beloved post-punk band For Against, Jeffrey Runnings has been a source of inspiration, art, and music for fans worldwide. Today, he is facing his toughest challenge yet. His path to wellness requires extensive medical treatment, support, and care — costs that quickly add up and are overwhelming.

As Runnings’ GoFundMe page says, “We’re reaching out to the incredible music and arts community that has followed Jeff’s journey over the years to lend a hand in his time of need. Donations of any size will directly fund his medical expenses, support his daily care needs, and allow him and his family to focus on his recovery with less financial stress. Jeff’s music has given us so much; now it’s our turn to give back.”

Since the 1980s, Independent Project Records has released or co-released no less than five full-length albums and one 7” EP with For Against. Within the last decade, labels such as Captured Tracks and Saint Marie Records have released box set compilations featuring portions of the For Against catalog, with Saint Marie releasing Jeffrey’s first solo album, Primitives and Smalls, in 2016. IPR is now in pre-production on his sophomore solo album, Piqued, set for release in mid-2025.

Founded in 1980 by musician and artist Bruce Licher, Independent Project Records and its sister entity Independent Project Press are known for their instantly recognizable hand-printed record covers for bands including Camper Van Beethoven, For Against, Polvo, R.E.M., Savage Republic, Silversun Pickups, Stereolab and more. Aside from creating much of the artwork on his vintage two-ton hand-fed letterpress, Licher was nominated for a Grammy Award for his design work on the IPR released debut album from For Against.
