FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA (FRIDAY MAY 3, 2024) – Today, Independent Project Records and David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets) are releasing the triple album Tracks From the Attic on CD, digital, colored vinyl LP and a Supreme Deluxe Art Edition Box Set on vinyl. A new video for one of the set’s bonus tracks, “The Wrecking Ball is Coming Down,” is also out today.

First appearing as part of Record Store Day’s RSD Black Friday 2023, Tracks From the Attic were hand-picked by David himself and features solo demos recorded on audio-cassette between 1984 and 2004. The Supreme Deluxe Art Box Set Edition is numbered, autographed and extremely limited (70 copies only), comes in translucent natural vinyl and features a new color scheme cover, lyric sheets, plus one-of-a-kind autographed David J artwork. What makes each of the Supreme Deluxe Art Box Set so unique is the inclusion of an actual cassette tape from David’s personal home archive, one of the very copies that were used to compile this career-spanning archival release. This Supreme Deluxe Box Set version of Tracks From the Attic is only available from the IPR web store. More details here.

A West Coast Tour in support of Tracks From the Attic begins today with a one-of-kind event at the Bodecker Foundation in Portland, OR titled Enter the Attic: an Evening with David J. This will be a tiered ticketed event featuring an interview and Q&A with David and moderator Jeffrey Clark (Shiva Burlesque, IPR co-founder), a two-part live performance (solo acoustic and full band), a screening of music videos, and an art gallery showing. A digital download of the live show will be provided to all guests after the event. Full tour dates here.

With Tracks From the Attic, the Bauhaus and Love and Rockets co-founder invites listeners on a most fascinating journey. Even while busy with his two legendary groups he was bursting with songs, and this is a thrilling selection of recordings he made sometimes on the road and mostly at home, with only the help of his Muse, a recorder and a lit candle. The sumptuous triple album that now collects these very jewels offers a unique experience that gives equal importance to the aural, the visual and the tactile.

Tracks From The Attic is already getting enthusiastic early press coverage including interviews, reviews, podcasts, airplay and news items in outlets including SiriusXM’s Darkwave “Slicing Up Eyeballs”, Outside Left (UK), Strutter (Netherlands), the Watt from Pedro radio show, the Sound Up! With Mark Goodman and Alan Light podcast, Side-Line Magazine (Belgium). Music Connection said: “Musically, this is J exploring his folky side. Lo-fi, chill and intimate, it’s wonderful to hear a man often associated with pomp and epic, stripped down. The music is great and, as one might expect from an IPR release, the packaging is beautiful. Embossed card sleeves, an essay by Jeffrey Clark — it generally looks incredible.“
