Classic Rocker Lee Michaels Launches The Lee Michaels Podcast!

CLASSIC ROCK STAR/ENTREPRENEUR LEE MICHAELS LAUNCHES THE LEE MICHAELS PODCAST

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES CA, WEDNESDAY MAY 22, 2024 – Classic rock star/entrepreneur Lee Michaels, best known for his 1971 Top 10 hit single “Do You Know What I Mean,” has added podcasting to his long list of post-pop-stardom accomplishments.

The podcast, which launched on Feb. 6, 2024, was originally named Honest Bullshit, but since changed to The Lee Michaels Podcast, deals with exactly what the original name signified, honest bullshit.  The podcast, currently on episode 60, features a variety of topics that range from Michael’s well-documented career as a recording artist, to some of his post-music-career ventures in the boxing world, as well as being a restaurateur and an inventor, to anything else that he and his co-host Dylan Skye wish to discuss at that moment.

New episodes of The Lee Michaels Podcast appear daily on YouTube Tuesday through Friday.

Lee Michaels was part of the San Francisco music scene in the late 1960s, a time during which he accompanied himself on the Hammond B3 organ. He was signed to A&M Records in 1967 and released seven albums for A&M between 1967 and 1973.  He continued to record for Columbia Records and his own Squish Records label between 1973 and 1981.  His songs were staples on the more free-form FM radio format, and in the summer of 1971 he had a Top 10 hit single on both the Billboard and Cashbox charts with “Do You Know What I Mean,” which receives significant airplay on classic rock stations around the country to this day.

In 2015, Manifesto Records reissued a 7-CD box set titled The Complete A&M Album Collection, as well as Heighty Hi: The Best Of Lee Michaels, a single CD and single LP collection.  Michaels’ catalog had been out of print for over 15 years and the reissues were a big success and reinforced his standing as a classic rock staple.

Michaels will forever be associated with his career as a musician, but he in fact has had several post musical career ventures, including opening Killer Shrimp in 1988, a successful restaurant located in the coastal Marina Del Rey area of Los Angeles, that he and his family still operate to this day.  He also owned and operated a boxing gym and managed a professional boxer. Additionally, he owned several exotic cats, including tigers and cheetahs.  These are just a few of the subjects that Michaels has inside knowledge of, but also has numerous inventions to add to his constantly growing resume.

It is his wide range of interests that make The Lee Michaels Podcast compelling and always interesting.  When asked why he decided to launch a podcast, and why now, Michaels replied, “Everyone’s been telling me that I need to share my crazy stories of all of my crazy and unique adventures and experiences, and that’s what I’m doing, and having a great time doing it.”
