FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA (THURSDAY NOVEMBER 19 2015) – Frontier Records (http://www.frontierrecords.com/), the independent Los Angeles-based record label who are celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, announced today it will be releasing a Black Friday Record Store Day release Friday November 27 from punk super group CALIFORNIA. The black and white splatter vinyl, 7” vinyl release from CALIFORNIA features “Hate The Pilot” b/w “Cut & Paste” and is limited to 250 copies.

CALIFORNIA is a new Bay Area band featuring Jason White (vocals/guitar), Dustin Clark (bass/vocals) and Adam Pfahler (drums). You know Jason as the other guy in GREEN DAY andPINHEAD GUNPOWDER. Dustin was in THE INSIDES. Adam you might remember as the OTHER other guy from JAWBREAKER. “Hate The Pilot” is the single from CA‘s forthcoming eponymous debut LP, which was recorded over several months that included the birth of two children, a throat cancer diagnosis for Jason and subsequent radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He’s fine now, no worries. Why CALIFORNIA? Because fuck you!

On Black Friday evening (11/27), Frontier Records Owner LISA FANCHER will take over PURE TRASH at the Monty Bar (montybar.com) in downtown Los Angeles and spin nothing but vintage glam and glitter vinyl until 2am. This special guest appearance is to announce the official launch of her 24-7 streaming Internet radio station, KXFU.net, part of the KONG network.

Frontier Records has been busy this year, releasing all sorts of limited edition vinyl, as well as a re-release, including the 1967 debut album from EILEEN ROMEY, Eileen Romney Sings. Out of print since the Summer of Love, these tracks are only available digitally and can be described as ‘groovy lounge pop’– love songs, blues songs, and ballads with top-notch arrangements and real strings. Prior to that, Frontier released an April 2015 Record Store Day picture disc 7” EP –Live Freaky, Die Freaky!— commemorating the 10th anniversary of John Roecker’s film of the same name. The EP features the classic “Mechanical Man” performed by Billie Joe Armstrong, the raucous “Charlie? (Opening Song)” performed by Travis Barker and the hilarious “Do The Creepy Crawl” performed by Jane Wiedlin & Roddy Bottum.

What’s more, Frontier celebrated its coral/jade anniversary this month by giving away free 7” colored vinyl 45s by THE ADOLESCENTS, WEIRDOS and CHRISTIAN DEATH with purchase of corresponding St. George Spirits’ small batch gin, bourbon and absinthe. The event took place at K&L Wines via its Faultiline Imprint (http://spiritsjournal.klwines.com/klwinescom-spirits-blog/2015/10/14/new-faultline-releases-nov-5th-in-store-only.html) in Hollywood. Each bottle’s label and 7” picture sleeve was designed by the legendary graphic novel artist, Jaime Hernandez (LOVE & ROCKETS, PENNY CENTURY), who attended and signed his work at the very exclusive in-store.

Also this year, Frontier Records reissued the 21st anniversary release of LILYSEccsame The Photon Band, which has been described as “one of the LILYS best”, “a hallucinatory revelation” and “a masterpiece of mood, atmosphere and production”. As all American shoegaze fans know, LILYS is the constantly changing concept vehicle of Kurt Heasley, the group’s front man, founder and sole constant member. His harmonically complex songwriting has resulted in six albums and five EPs. None other than Johnny Marr recently tweeted that some of his favorite guitar players include Heasley alongside Pete Shelley, Isaac Brock and Ray Davies.
