BENVENUTO & ARRIVADERC! FUNZALO MUSIC CONFIRMS WORLDWIDE ADMINISTRATION DEAL WITH DAYTRIPPER/CCS RIGHTS MANAGEMENT FOR RECORD LABEL AND PUBLISHING CATALOG

Daytripper/CCS Will Oversee Creative Services, Marketing, Sync and Administrate for Both Funzalo Records and Music as Veteran Music Executive Mike Lembo Moves to Italy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA & SEZZE, ITALY (THURSDAY FEBRUARY 16, 2023)
Funzalo Music confirmed today a worldwide administration deal for their record label and publishing company with Daytripper/ CCS Rights Management, known for publishing with a creator-first approach.

Founded by veteran music industry executive Mike Lembo, both record label and publishing company Funzalo Records & Music, will be overseen by Daytripper, following his move Italy late last year. Daytripper/CCS will oversee creative services, marketing, sync and administration of the catalogs with Lembo taking a limited role while still running his Mike’s Management entity and artists like Jules Shear, Brian Lopez (“Night Sky”/Amazon Prime) and The Steepwater Band (“Big Sky”/ABC) and others while scouting new talent for the catalogs.

“After so many years in many different successes, it’s time to work with a younger, creative team at Daytripper, that’s more plugged into marketing the Funzalo catalog,” said Mike Lembo of Funzalo Records and Music. “I will still be actively involved in working the catalogs but will secede control of the day-to-day operations and leave it in their incredibly successful hands. Jodie Ferneyhough has put together a great team and I’m thrilled to let go of the reins while I take a view from Italia  from my new mountaintop  town. But, please keep sending us searches for synch licensing because we control both master and synch.”

“We are pleased to bring the Funzalo catalogue to the CCS Rights family,” said Daytripper/CCS Rights Management CEO Jodie Ferneyhough. “Mike’s passion for his roster of writers and artists is undeniable and we look forward to working with him to find new uses for his songs.”

For more than 50 years, Mike Lembo has worked in the music industry at every level of the business. Be it as a college student Gainesville Fl., where he wore many hats for Mudcrutch (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) in 1968 or as an artist and producer manager (Mike’s Artist Management), record label owner (Deli Platters, the BMG-distributed First Warning, Funzalo Records), music publisher, film/TV synch licenser and talent executive, Mike has done it all.

Lembo’s eclectic management resume includes a three-decades-plus professional relationship with tunesmith Jules Shear and includes stints managing  bands like Cracker, NRBQ, Robin Lane and the Chartbusters, The Church, North Mississippi Allstars, Sidewinders, Garland Jeffries, Peter C. Johnson, Jolly Boys, Martin Briley, Divine Weeks, Brian Lopez, Tony Furtado, Todd Colby, The Pez Band, Mother Truckers & Tom Verlaine.

Lembo also managed a number of Grammy-winning producer/engineers, including Paul Q. Kolderie/Sean Slade (Radiohead, Hole, Pixies), Stuart Sikes (Loretta Lynn, Cat Power), Jim Dickinson (The Replacements, Big Star, Alex Chilton, Willy DeVille, Toots and the Maytals), Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Stone Sour, Mastadon), Albhy Galutin (Saturday Night Fever, Jellyfish), Bill Drescher (Bangles, Allman Brothers, Rick Springfield), Peter Coleman (Pat Benatar, Steve Earle), Waddy Wachtel (The Church), Barry Beckett (Hank Williams Jr.) and Dusty Wakeman (Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams). Among the executives he worked closely with along the way were such industry icons as Jerry Wexler, Mo Ostin, Lenny Waronker and Clive Davis.

Mike was also a booking agent, an artist development consultant to MCA Music Publishing and once turned down managing The Replacements, memorably recounted in Bob Mehr’s recent band biography, Trouble Boys.

Funzalo Records, publishing company and Mike’s Artist Management has always put his money where his mouth is, investing in the kind of artist development that major labels have long since abandoned to the independent sector.

Additionally, Mike Lembo has built and sold several music publishing companies along the way, with clients ranging from Jules Shear, who wrote songs “All Through The Night” (Cyndi Lauper), “If She Knew What She Wants” (The Bangles), “Whisper Your Name” (Alison Moyet), Steve Kilby & Karin Janssen’s “Under The Milky Way Tonight” (The Church), NRBQ’s Al Anderson, who wrote “You’re Gonna Be a Sorry Man” (Hank Williams, Jr.), to The Woods’ Terry Anderson, “Battleship Chains” (George Satellites).

Currently Mike Lembo is focusing his time on sync licensing for film and TV for Funzalo, artist development consulting projects for labels, artists, management and songwriters and living a new life in Italy.
