Amon Tobin’s Vinyl Campaign Launches Today on Bandcamp For Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart Installation A Living Room

MUSIC FROM MEOW WOLF’S OMEGA MART INSTALLATION FROM AMON TOBIN LAUNCHES TODAY ON BANDCAMP WITH VINYL CAMPAIGN FOR A LIVING ROOM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA (FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 23, 2022)  – When art builders and curators Meow Wolf went looking for composers to work with them on the Omega Mart in Las Vegas, they, of course, approached Amon Tobin. Bandcamp campaign link to buy here.

A Living Room is the music Tobin composed for Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart. Within the expansive, immersive installation music fills the art filled aisles and Tobin’s work sits alongside areas sound tracked by Brian Eno and Beach House amongst others.

Omega Mart opened in February 2021 to rave reviews with the New York Times describing it as “Mind-expanding.”

Alongside the digital release there will be a Bandcamp Vinyl Campaign (link here) launching today to produce a delicious slab of etched vinyl.

In addition, Amon’s visual arts alias Shy1 has made a full video accompaniment in glorious cinemascope format available here https://youtu.be/e1gIfFYUw_g

“Meow Wolf commissioned me to score a space as a living soundtrack that would morph over a 20min period in a physically interactive environment. My intention was to make something sympathetic to the space but also music which could exist independently of it, making any room a living room.”  – Amon Tobin

Amon Tobin has long been known as an experimental and production visionary. His attention to detail and his insatiable pursuit of invention are married to a sometimes mischievous and Absurdist approach to sound design and the music he creates.

His work has featured in films (Interstellar, The Place Beyond the Pines, Closer) TV shows (The Blacklist, Top Gear, Republic of Sarah) and video games (Splinter Cell, Infamous, Gran Tourismo).

His collaborative work on exhibitions and installations such as Tessa Farmer’s ISAM: Control over Nature, the Sydney Opera House’s Lighting the Sails, as well as his own groundbreaking multi-media video mapping show ISAM have established his work providing the background, and often foreground, soundtracks for the edges of our lives.

REVIEWS FOR AMON TOBIN – HOW DO YOU LIVE

“Amon Tobin is the kind of electronic artist that everyone who dislikes electronic music should be introduced to. He transcends the genre. His music isn’t paint-by-numbers instrumental music; instead, it challenges the skeptical listener to accept the genre by approaching it in unique ways. His music has an inherent heaviness, a musical weight, that demands attention – but it’s rarely off-putting. If anything, his novel ways with sound design bring with it an odd, inherent type of catchiness… A striking reminder of how all-encompassing Amon Tobin’s talents genuinely are and how lucky we are to have him around.”  – PopMatters

“More Amon Tobin brilliance” – Electronic Sound Magazine

“Somehow, Tobin has managed to apply the complexity of Autechre to the grooves of psychedelic rock, and the output sounds even more mind-bending than you’d expect. Tobin has always been in a class of his own, and that’s doubly true of How Do You Live: There’s simply no one else making music like this.” – APPLE MUSIC
