FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA. (THURSDAY DECEMBER 2, 2021) – Independent Project Records (IPR) confirmed today that they will be releasing three titles at the beginning of the new year:

  • Bare Bodkin, a fifteen track retrospective album by 80’s Psych-Rock band The Ophelias,
  • Mercury Blues (+ Skulduggery); an expanded, two disc edition of the stunning 1990 album by Shiva Burlesque, (featuring Jeffrey Clark and Grant-Lee Phillips).
  • Mutant Gifts, a three song EP from New York-based interdisciplinary artist Alison Clancy

All three titles will be released on Friday, February 4, 2022, on compact disc and via digital services. The Ophelias and Shiva Burlesque albums offer never-before-heard bonus tracks plus expanded and updated liner notes by David Fricke; with vinyl editions to arrive later in 2022.

And all three releases will feature iconic, 5-color die-cut packaging designed by label founder Bruce Licher.

With Bare Bodkin and Mercury Blues (+Skulduggery), Independent Project Records continues to excavate their remarkable and extensive back catalog of punk, post-punk and alternative music from the label’s ‘80’s and 90’s roots, reissuing and expanding previously released material with bonus tracks; as well as bringing exquisitely packaged physical titles to digital music fans, some for the first time ever.

Newcomer Alison Clancy’s 3-song EP was recorded in the intense chaos of New York City, in 2020, and was mixed this September by Noah Georgeson (Producer of Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, etc). The disc is packaged in a deluxe, metallic oversized folder letterpress printed at Independent Project Press; and will include three photographic card inserts. Full track listing and further details will be announced shortly and all three releases will be distributed internationally both digitally and physically via Darla Records.

Additional IPR releases will be announced shortly, and will include full-length, expanded, and in some cases long out-of-print titles as well as new music that fits the IPR aesthetic both musically and in design. By utilizing IPR’s iconic hand-letterpress printed artwork created at Independent Project Press, the label will continue to the design aesthetic that began in 1980 and has become the labels hallmark.
